The most important questions about parcel boxes, with the facts from our own factory.
A parcel box, also called a parcel letterbox, is a lockable outdoor solution by your front door where a delivery driver can leave a parcel. It has a separate parcel compartment that is larger than an ordinary letterbox, with a flap on top for the delivery driver and a door with a key lock on the front for you. All BunnyBox models are made of 0.7 mm galvanised steel with Qualicoat Class 2 powder coating with zinc phosphate pretreatment, so they are built to stand outside for years.
A parcel locker is usually a shared unit belonging to a delivery network such as PostNL or DHL, somewhere in the neighbourhood, which you go to yourself with a code to collect your parcel. A parcel box stands at your home and belongs to you: the parcel comes to you instead of the other way round. It is simpler for the delivery driver too, as there is no code to enter and they just deliver as they would to a letterbox.
The delivery driver opens the flap on top, puts the parcel inside and closes the flap again. No code, app or signature is involved, so it works the same way with every carrier. You take your parcels out with the key whenever it suits you, even if that is not until the evening or the following weekend.
All the ways to receive a parcelThe guideline in the Netherlands is a slot at a height between 60 and 180 cm, with around 110 cm as the practical ideal, in a spot within ten metres of the public road that a delivery driver can reach without having to open a gate or fence. Our freestanding models are 100 to 112 cm high, so they fall right within that zone. A wall-mounted model like the Compact you mount yourself at the height that is most convenient for the delivery driver.
View all placement requirementsThat depends on your largest parcel and the space you have. The Compact is a wall-mounted model for parcels up to 30 x 20 x 20 cm, the Style is a slim freestanding column with a wood-effect front for parcels up to 35 x 32 x 20 cm, the Home is the most spacious entry option for parcels up to 37 x 32 x 21 cm, and the Plus, at 45 x 32 x 21 cm and with two separate compartments for post and parcels, is the largest of the four.
Compare the four modelsFirst look at the maximum parcel size compared with your own orders, then at the material: galvanised steel with a coating lasts longer outdoors than plastic or untreated wood. Also check the type of lock: a key lock is the most common, but there are also combination locks and smart locks with an app. Finally, check whether the model comes as a self-assembly kit or, like the Compact, pre-assembled.
