In short

  • Home is the standard choice: freestanding, parcels up to 370 x 320 x 210 mm, in four colours.
  • Style is the slimmest freestanding model, with a wood-effect front and a separate slot for letters.
  • Plus is the largest model, up to 450 x 320 x 210 mm, and the only series with separate compartments for post and parcels.
  • Compact is the wall-mounted model and the only series supplied pre-assembled.
  • The parcel compartment of a freestanding model is almost half a metre high: fourteen book mailers in the Home and Style, eighteen in the Plus.
  • Choose based on your largest box, on the location and on whether post needs to be kept separate.

We make our parcel letterboxes ourselves, in our own factory. So we do not have to estimate what fits, we can write it down: Compact up to 300 x 200 x 200 mm, Style up to 350 x 320 x 200 mm, Home up to 370 x 320 x 210 mm and Plus up to 450 x 320 x 210 mm. Below you will find the four models side by side with those dimensions, with the real box sizes to compare them with, and with the four questions that help you choose in a minute.

What you read below comes from our own model overview and our capacity model, not from a product description copied from a supplier. A webshop selling six brands can tell you what the manufacturer states. We can tell you how high the parcel compartment is, how many book mailers fit in when a delivery driver turns them on their side, and which model to go for if the box turns out to be a centimetre too wide. We have also included the legal requirements, with article numbers, so you put the box in the right place and at the right height straight away.

BunnyBox parcel letterbox by the front door of a house
Four models, the same steel and the same lock. The difference is in size, placement and look.

If you want the theory behind choosing a size first, read what size parcel letterbox do I need. If you want to know what will never go through an ordinary letterbox slot, that is covered in which parcels do not fit through a letterbox. This article is about choosing between our four models. You will find every other topic in the Knowledge base.

The four models in a table

All dimensions in millimetres, in the order width x depth x height. "Parcels up to" is the largest single parcel that still fits. The external size is what will stand on your driveway or against your facade, and that is the size to mark out where you want it before you order.

All four series are made of 0.7 mm galvanised steel sheet with Qualicoat Class 2 powder coating with zinc phosphate pretreatment, have a door with a key lock and two keys, and a flap on top where the delivery driver puts the parcel in. The colours we stock are RAL 9005 black, RAL 9010 white, RAL 7036 platinum grey and RAL 7016 anthracite, plus the combinations with dark teak or light oak. The price per model is on the product page, and why parcel letterboxes vary so widely in price is explained in what does a good parcel letterbox cost.

What size do you order? The four models against real box sizes

The easiest way to choose is not to look at our dimensions, but at the boxes that arrive at your door. Below are the standard sizes stocked by Dutch packaging suppliers, which are therefore the ones you come across most often in practice. The webshops themselves usually do not publish their packaging sizes: for Coolblue, Zalando, Amazon.nl, Douglas, Bax Music and HelloFresh, not a single public box size could be found after targeted searching. What is certain are the standard sizes of corrugated cardboard that almost everyone draws on, and the five parcel boxes PostNL sells itself.

PostNL parcel box type 5, 430 x 300 x 90 mm Plus is the model Plus is the model Plus is the model Fits

Read that table from left to right and the choice makes itself. The 240 x 170 x 80 mm toiletries box goes in every model, including the Compact. As soon as the box goes over 300 mm, and a book mailer, a clothing box, a shoebox, an electronics box and a toy box all do, the Style is the next model that takes it. And as soon as the box goes over 370 mm, like the largest parcel box PostNL sells, the Plus is the model you need.

Why those box sizes so often just exceed the slot

There is a reason so many orders do not go through an ordinary letterbox but do fit in a parcel letterbox. Packaging suppliers deliberately make letterbox boxes around 28 mm high, while the law allows 32 mm: A6 180 x 115 x 28, A5 255 x 160 x 28, A4 310 x 220 x 28 and A4-plus 350 x 250 x 28 mm. Verpakgigant states plainly that all sizes keep to a height of around 28 mm so they pass effortlessly through the letterbox, and G&F explains that the 28 mm is the usable product space and the remaining millimetres go into the corrugated cardboard walls. Anything that needs to be thicker than that 28 mm falls outside that system and becomes a parcel.

How firm that limit is can be seen from PostNL's own set of boxes. Type 1 is 146 x 56 x 131 mm, type 2 is 200 x 140 x 80, type 3 is 240 x 170 x 80, type 4 is 305 x 215 x 110 and type 5 is 430 x 300 x 90 mm. The lowest height in that range is 56 mm, almost twice the legal slot of 32 mm. None of the five goes through a letterbox. All five do go in a freestanding BunnyBox, and type 5 specifically goes in the Plus.

88% Of the 615 million parcels delivered in the Netherlands, 88 percent are not letterbox parcels. That share is a lower limit, because the ACM counts the product category the carrier booked, not whether the parcel physically went through. ACM Post and Parcel Monitor 2025, published 24 June 2026. Letterbox parcels: 73 million out of 615 million.

How many orders fit in at once?

The maximum parcel size is about a single parcel. What you notice in a busy week is something else: how many fit in at the same time before you have to go out and empty it. The parcel compartment of a freestanding model is almost half a metre high. A week of orders fits in there, and that is exactly why a freestanding model is something different from a big letterbox with a flap on top.

The numbers below come from the Maximum column of our capacity model. That means: neatly stacked, with tilting allowed, exactly as a delivery driver does it when they have to drop off three parcels at once. So they are not meant as everyday practice but as the upper limit of the compartment.

What fits inside Compact Style Home Plus
Book mailers Style is the model 14 14 18
Shoeboxes Style is the model 4 4 4
Phone boxes 9 40 40 42
Height of parcel compartment Wall-mounted model, 450 mm external height Almost half a metre Almost half a metre Almost half a metre, plus a separate post compartment

Fourteen book mailers is more than it sounds. If you receive three to five parcels a week, a Home or a Style lets you go on holiday for two weeks without the box filling up, provided the shipments are that size. The Plus adds four more book mailers and keeps your post out of the stack at the same time. And forty phone boxes in a Home or Style shows what the Maximum column really means: the compartment is deep, and small boxes barely fill it.

The Compact plays a different game. Nine phone boxes and a 240 x 170 x 80 mm toiletries box fit in, and that covers cosmetics, supplements, jewellery, accessories, cables and books in an envelope. If you also order shoes or clothing in a box, the Style is the model that takes that size.

BunnyBox Home: the standard choice

Freestanding, 102 cm tall, flap on top. The parcel drops into the box and the door at the front opens with a key. Parcels up to 370 x 320 x 210 mm, so the small parcel size PostNL uses as a rate class (38 x 28 x 15 cm) fits easily, with room for a second parcel on top. A class size like that is the upper limit of a rate class and not an average parcel size: the boxes that actually go in are almost always smaller.

BunnyBox Home parcel letterbox, freestanding, in black
The Home in black. There are four colours, and all four cost the same.

This is the model that suits most households. Four shoeboxes stacked, fourteen book mailers, external dimensions of 410 x 380 x 1020 mm and four versions that all cost the same. The Home has no separate letter slot: post and parcels go into the same compartment. For most addresses that is fine, because you empty the box in one go anyway. If you really want to keep post separate, the Plus is the model with two compartments.

Choose the Home if yours is an ordinary situation: a front garden or a spot on the property boundary, a few parcels a week, and you do not want to think about it any further. If a box wider than 370 mm turns up regularly, the Plus is the better choice.

BunnyBox Style: the slimmest freestanding model

A 100 cm freestanding post with a wood-effect front and a separate letter slot in that front. External dimensions 380 x 365 x 1000 mm, which makes it the slimmest freestanding model we make. Parcels up to 350 x 320 x 200 mm. Letters and parcels end up in the same compartment; the slot is separate in the front so your post does not have to go through the flap on top.

BunnyBox Style parcel letterbox in black with dark teak
The Style in black with dark teak, the slimmest freestanding model.

The Style has three arguments of its own. The first is that width: 380 mm external width means it fits where a wider post does not, between a fence and a path, next to a front door in a porch, or in a narrow front garden. The second is the wood-effect front, in dark teak or light oak, which matches a timber facade, a garden screen or a carport. The third is that separate letter slot: everyone can see at a glance that it is a letterbox, and that helps with a delivery driver who has twenty seconds at your door. What else wins a delivery driver over is covered in why your delivery driver skips your parcel letterbox.

In capacity, the Style sits right next to the Home: fourteen book mailers, four shoeboxes, forty phone boxes. The difference in parcel size is 20 mm in width and 10 mm in height. So choose on looks and on the space you have, not on capacity. If you regularly receive boxes wider than 350 mm, the Home is the next model up and the Plus the one above that.

Choose the Style if the box stands on the street side and is part of how your house looks, if you are short on width, or if you have a wood-effect facade or fence.

BunnyBox Plus: the largest model, with separate compartments

The tallest post at 112 cm, external dimensions 500 x 370 x 1120 mm, and the only series with two separate compartments: post goes in a separate compartment, parcels in the parcel compartment. Parcels up to 450 x 320 x 210 mm.

BunnyBox Plus parcel letterbox, freestanding, in black
The Plus is 500 mm wide and keeps post and parcels in separate compartments.

The size argument is the easiest to explain. The Plus takes 80 mm more width than the Home. That does not sound like much, but it is exactly the difference between yes and no: the largest parcel box PostNL itself sells is 430 x 300 x 90 mm, an A3 book mailer is 430 x 310 x 60 mm, and both go in the Plus and in no other model of ours. The Plus is ahead in numbers too: eighteen book mailers against fourteen, and forty-two phone boxes against forty.

Want to keep post and parcels separate?

Then the Plus is your model, because it is the only series with truly separate compartments. The Style and the Compact do have a separate letter slot in the front, but letters and parcels end up in the same compartment. The Home has one compartment. The Plus has two compartments, so your letters do not end up under a box, and you do not have to lift a stack to find your post.

BunnyBox Plus with post in the upper compartment and parcels in the lower compartment
The Plus keeps post and parcels in two separate compartments.

That is worth more than it seems at addresses where a lot comes in: a family with children who order things themselves, two people who both work from home, a practice or business run from home, or an address where business post has to come in between the orders. Registered post and official documents then do not get lost between boxes, and you grab your post without having to empty the parcel compartment first.

Choose the Plus if you order every day, live with several people at one address, run a business or practice from home, regularly receive boxes over 370 mm, or want to keep your post separate.

BunnyBox Compact: the only series that arrives pre-assembled

A 365 x 250 x 450 mm wall-mounted model with a separate slot for letters. Parcels up to 300 x 200 x 200 mm. And the most important feature: this is the only BunnyBox series supplied pre-assembled. The Home, the Style and the Plus come as a self-assembly kit with assembly instructions. The Compact comes out of the box in one piece, there is nothing to screw together, you just mount it. Which tools and which wall plug you need for each surface is explained in assembling a parcel letterbox.

BunnyBox Compact parcel letterbox as a wall-mounted model in black
The Compact comes pre-assembled, all you have to do is mount it.

That is exactly what you want to hear if you live in an upstairs flat, an apartment or a flat with a shared entrance. There is no ground to put a post on and usually no workbench to lay out a self-assembly kit either. You hang the Compact on the wall next to the door, on the walkway wall or in the porch, and you are done. This also matters if you rent: a wall-mounted model leaves the paving alone and comes with you when you move. For a box that goes through a wall, gate or fence, read building a parcel letterbox into a wall, gate or fence.

In terms of capacity, the Compact covers the small orders: nine phone boxes, a 240 x 170 x 80 mm toiletries box, cosmetics, supplements, accessories, cables, jewellery and books in an envelope. Anything within 300 x 200 x 200 mm fits. If you also order shoes, clothing in a box or an A4 book mailer, the Style is the next model that takes that size.

Mount it so that the slot ends up around 110 cm above the ground, so with the bottom edge at about 75 cm. That is the height the law takes as its starting point and that delivery drivers find comfortable, see letterbox requirements in the Netherlands. Which wall plug suits which type of wall and how to prevent leaks is explained in mounting a wall-mounted model.

Choose the Compact if you have no room for a post, live in a porch flat, an upstairs flat or off a walkway, or simply want to mount it today without a toolbox.

Where each model's limit lies, and which model does fit

The four models form a ladder. Each rung has an upper limit, and above that limit the next model is ready. This is what the ladder looks like when you climb it from small to large.

01Compact, up to 300 x 200 x 200 mmToiletries, cosmetics, accessories, nine phone boxes. If a shoebox or an A4 book mailer comes too, the Style is the model.
02Style, up to 350 x 320 x 200 mmTrainers, clothing, toys, fourteen book mailers, in the slimmest freestanding model. If you get boxes wider than 350 mm, the Home is the model.
03Home, up to 370 x 320 x 210 mmThe standard class, in four colours, with 20 mm extra width and 10 mm extra height. If you regularly receive boxes wider than 370 mm, the Plus is the better choice.
04Plus, up to 450 x 320 x 210 mmThe top rung: eighteen book mailers, the largest PostNL parcel box at 430 x 300 x 90 mm, and post in a separate compartment.

Two things stand out when you read that ladder in one go. The first is that each step adds a specific box, not a vague bit of extra space: from the Compact to the Style the shoebox comes in, from the Style to the Home twenty millimetres of width, from the Home to the Plus the largest box in the PostNL set. The second is that you never have to guess two steps. Once you know your largest normal box, the ladder points to the model.

Shipments for which the delivery driver needs a signature or age check

Some shipments are booked with a signature or an age check. That is a feature of the shipment, not of your box: the carrier has to see the recipient and have them sign, so that shipment is handed over at the door or taken to a pickup point. What you can steer is the delivery preference you set with the carrier: with most carriers you indicate per account or per shipment that parcels may go in your parcel letterbox. Which carrier does what and where to set that preference is covered in parcel letterbox carriers: DHL, DPD, GLS, Budbee and Vinted Go and in can PostNL put a parcel in your parcel letterbox.

Where will the box go, and what does the law allow?

For two of the four models, placement helps decide which one you choose, so it is not a side issue. The rules are in the Postregeling 2009 (the Dutch Postal Regulations), based on article 20 paragraph 1 of the Postwet 2009 (the Dutch Postal Act). The old Besluit brievenbussen (Letterbox Decree) was withdrawn on 1 April 2009, so references to it that you come across elsewhere are out of date. These are the provisions you need.

  • The slot. Article 6 paragraph 3 requires a clear slot opening of at least 265 mm long and 32 mm wide. That is a minimum for the opening, not a maximum for what may go through it.
  • The height. Article 6 paragraph 2 assumes a slot 1.1 metres above the operating level, and in any case no lower than 0.6 and no higher than 1.8 metres. At 110 cm it works for almost every delivery driver.
  • The distance from the road. Article 5 paragraph 1 wants the letterbox as close as possible to the carriageway of a public road accessible to vehicles. Article 5 paragraph 4 states that it must be reachable within ten metres of the edge of a road, and article 5 paragraph 7 that there may be no more than 2.5 metres of height difference with the road surface.
  • The house number. Article 5 paragraph 3 asks for a clearly displayed house number. That is the cheapest measure on this whole list, and it really does save deliveries.
  • Confusion and safety. Article 6 paragraph 1 requires shape and colour to rule out confusion with public post boxes, article 6 paragraph 4 that you can operate it without risk of injury.

Translated to the four models: you place a freestanding post within those ten metres of the road, on paving slabs or a firm base, with the flap freely accessible so a delivery driver can reach it with a parcel in hand. You mount a wall-mounted model at a height where the slot ends up around 110 cm. If you have a wall, gate or fence the box needs to go through, the details are in building a parcel letterbox into a wall, gate or fence. For the full list of requirements, including PostNL's own recommendations, there is letterbox requirements in the Netherlands.

Two practical points that are often forgotten. Besides the 110 cm, the PostNL leaflet for residents also mentions a maximum walking distance of ten metres and no steps with more than 2.5 metres of height difference, and recommends an internal depth of at least 25 cm where the law requires 15 cm. And on ConsuWijzer, the ACM uses a receiving space of at least 27 x 15 x 38 cm. All four of our models are well above that with their parcel compartment.

How do you make sure the delivery driver actually uses your box?

A parcel letterbox only works once the delivery driver sees it, recognises it and uses it. That is partly placement and partly settings. Four things do most of the work.

VISIBLEBy the road, with the house number on itWithin ten metres of the road, house number clearly displayed. That is also what article 5 paragraphs 3 and 4 of the Postregeling 2009 require.
RECOGNISABLEClearly a letterboxA separate letter slot in the front, as on the Style and the Compact, makes it clear at a glance what it is.
SET UPDelivery preference onIn your account with the carrier, switch on the preference that parcels may go in the parcel letterbox, per address or per shipment.
ACCESSIBLEFlap clear, gate openNo bike, planter or wheelie bin in front of the flap, and no locked gate between the road and the box.

Why a delivery driver still sometimes walks past, and what to do about it, we have looked into separately in why your delivery driver skips your parcel letterbox. That it is worth getting this right is shown by Radar's survey of 25 May 2026 among 19,908 respondents: 60 percent had a parcel sent to a pickup point without asking in the past three years, 89 percent were simply at home, and 81 percent suspect the delivery driver never came to the door. A box that stands visibly by the road takes that discussion away.

If a shipment is not put in the box after all, the carrier's holding periods apply: PostNL keeps it for up to one week, DHL up to five days, DPD seven calendar days at a pickup point and five days in a parcel locker. After that, the parcel goes back to the sender. What you can arrange in the meantime is covered in receiving a parcel when you are not at home. And what happens when a parcel is delivered but does not reach you is explained in parcel theft in the Netherlands.

What does a good parcel letterbox cost?

The price per model is on the product page, and that page is also where you see the current versions and colours. What is more useful here is where the price differences in this market come from, because they are large. In a market-wide price comparison on 25 August 2026, the lowest verified price for a parcel letterbox was €79.00 and the highest €1,799.00, a factor of about 23. Brievenbusdirect gives a range of €94.00 to €1,799.00 for its own range of 198 parcel letterboxes.

Two findings from that research are useful if you are comparing. The first: on the product pages of Gamma, Praxis, Karwei, Hornbach, bol.com and Brievenbusdirect, the steel thickness was missing for every model checked, including models costing €346 and €549. We do state that specification, 0.7 mm galvanised steel sheet with Qualicoat Class 2 powder coating with zinc phosphate pretreatment, because we buy the sheet and process it ourselves. The second: below €150, no anti-return flap or anti-fishing protection was mentioned on the pages checked. That is the sharpest dividing line in the whole price table, sharper than the brand or the colour.

A third point that surprises people: the base. Many brands sell posts and stands separately, and that adds €44 to €149 to the headline price. Colour can drive the price too. At one and the same shop, the same model on the same day cost €346.20 in anthracite and €432.30 in white, a difference of €86.10. The full breakdown, including coating classes, locks, warranty and a worked example per year, is in what does a good parcel letterbox cost. For our own prices, go to the product pages or to the parcel box collection.

Choose in four questions

These are the four questions the choice rests on. Answer them in this order and you will arrive at a model.

  1. What size do you order? Look at your largest normal box. If it stays within 300 x 200 x 200 mm, the Compact will do. Up to 350 x 320 x 200 mm it is the Style, up to 370 x 320 x 210 mm the Home, and up to 450 x 320 x 210 mm the Plus.
  2. Where will the box go? If you have ground within ten metres of the road, a freestanding post is an option. If you live in an upstairs flat, a porch flat or off a walkway, the Compact is the wall-mounted model that arrives pre-assembled. If you are short on width, the Style, at 380 mm, is the slimmest post.
  3. How should it look? If the box is part of how your house looks, or you have a timber facade, fence or carport, the Style with its wood-effect front and separate letter slot is the model. If you want to choose a colour, the Home comes in four versions.
  4. Do you want post and parcels kept separate? If yes, the Plus is your model: the only series with two separate compartments. If not, choose from the other three based on size, location and look.

If you end up with two models, it is usually Home versus Style, and then taste and the width you have decide. If it is Home versus Plus, your largest box decides: above 370 mm, it is the Plus.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the BunnyBox Home and the Style?

Little in capacity, a lot in look and width. Both take fourteen book mailers, four shoeboxes and forty phone boxes. The Home takes a parcel up to 370 x 320 x 210 mm and comes in four colours. The Style takes a parcel up to 350 x 320 x 200 mm, has a wood-effect front with a separate letter slot and, at 380 mm external width, is the slimmest freestanding model.

Which BunnyBox is the largest?

The Plus. External dimensions 500 x 370 x 1120 mm, parcels up to 450 x 320 x 210 mm, eighteen book mailers, and the only series with two separate compartments for post and parcels.

Which BunnyBox comes pre-assembled?

The Compact, and only the Compact. It is the only series supplied pre-assembled: you mount it and you are done. The Home, Style and Plus come as a self-assembly kit with assembly instructions.

Does a shoebox fit in the BunnyBox Compact?

A 330 x 200 x 110 mm shoebox needs a freestanding model. The Style takes it, as do the Home and the Plus. The Compact is made for parcels up to 300 x 200 x 200 mm, such as a 240 x 170 x 80 mm toiletries box or nine phone boxes.

How many parcels fit in a BunnyBox?

The parcel compartment of a freestanding model is almost half a metre high, so a week of orders fits in. At most, neatly stacked and tilted as a delivery driver does: fourteen book mailers in the Home and the Style, eighteen in the Plus, four shoeboxes in every freestanding model, and forty phone boxes in the Home and Style against forty-two in the Plus. The Compact takes nine phone boxes.

Can I keep post and parcels separate?

Yes, with the Plus. It is the only series with two separate compartments. The Style and the Compact do have a separate letter slot in the front, but letters and parcels end up in the same compartment.

Which BunnyBox suits an apartment or upstairs flat?

The Compact. It is a 365 x 250 x 450 mm wall-mounted model that you hang on the wall, in the porch or on the walkway wall, and it is the only series that arrives pre-assembled. Mount it with the slot around 110 cm above the ground.

How high should a parcel letterbox be?

In article 6 paragraph 2, the Postregeling 2009 (the Dutch Postal Regulations) assumes a slot 1.1 metres above the operating level, and in any case no lower than 0.6 and no higher than 1.8 metres. Our freestanding models are 100 to 112 cm tall, so they are within that range.

How far from the road can the box be?

Article 5 paragraph 1 of the Postregeling 2009 requires placement as close as possible to the carriageway of a public road accessible to vehicles, article 5 paragraph 4 requires it to be reachable within ten metres of the edge of a road, and article 5 paragraph 7 allows no more than 2.5 metres of height difference with the road surface.

What happens to a parcel that needs a signature?

That is a feature of the shipment: with a signature or age check, the carrier has to see the recipient. A shipment like that is handed over at the door or taken to a pickup point. For all other shipments, set the delivery preference with the carrier that parcels may go in your parcel letterbox.
